I did not starve! On the way I spurned no food bowl and gladly waited even once an hour in the sun until the cinnamon buns came out of the oven. I diligently filed down the soles of my shoes and the tips of my hiking poles so that I had to move less and less weight forward. Meanwhile I have the amount of food in the backpack under control.
In the meantime, I am clearly more to the west. I could take the dry weather with me. The landscape has changed however significantly. The large bogs of the Trøndelags are behind me. However, it is swampy also in the west of the country from time to time. On the other hand, I can’t remember arriving with dry feet on four evenings in a row so far. The striking mountain peaks, deep valleys and the view of the fjords and the North Sea are very impressive. Accordingly, the area is attractive among locals and tourists.
On my route, the character of the landscape is currently changing daily. In Trollheimen National Park dominated striking, angular peaks and lakes in the valleys. The following deeply cut valleys Innerdalen and Sunndalen flow into a fjord. Accordingly one overcomes with each valley crossing approx. 1000 elevator meters down and on the other side again up. For the first time on my tour I had sore muscles the following day! Now I arrived on a gentle, but from gneiss plates littered high plateau. Here the barren landscape with its vastness appeals. I am curious what still awaits me in the coming days!
Encounters on the trail are not uncommon anymore. Norwegians use the beautiful late summer days for hiking and berry picking. Yesterday the reindeer hunting has also started and next Monday school starts again. Good reasons to enjoy gorgeous nature! Apparently it is quite common for women to use these last vacation days to go with friends on a multi-day trip without children and men. Last night the women were clearly in the majority in the crowded cabin. So that everyone had a place to sleep, additional mattresses had to be fetched from the attic. I was amazed at how calmly everyone took this situation. When it came to cooking and eating, people were considerate of each other, in that no one pushed in front of anyone, but they also put their cooking utensils aside so that the next people could use the stove. This colorful mixture of people also resulted in exciting conversations. Later in the evening the hunters arrived. First they had a beer and something to eat. After that they had to cut up the prey. I would have loved to have added to my picnic this morning with the posting under the canopy.
